BMW X3
The BMW X3 is a five-seat SUV with all-wheel drive, available from Mobire as a mild hybrid or plug-in hybrid. The range includes the xDrive20i, xDrive30e and xDrive30e with the M Sport package. All three have automatic transmissions. Your choice will depend on access to charging, luggage requirements and preferred equipment.
Mild hybrid or plug-in hybrid
The BMW X3 xDrive20i MHEV pairs a 2.0-litre petrol engine with a supporting mild-hybrid system, delivering a combined output of 153 kW. It does not require plug-in charging, making it worth considering if you cannot charge at home or at work, or prefer not to include charging in your driving routine.
BMW X3 xDrive30e PHEV combines a petrol engine with an electric motor, producing a total system output of 220 kW. The manufacturer quotes an electric range of 80–88 kilometres under the WLTP test procedure. With regular charging, this may cover your daily commute, although the actual range depends on weather, speed and other driving conditions. The petrol engine is also available for longer journeys.
BMW X3 xDrive30e M Sport PHEVuses the same 220 kW plug-in hybrid powertrain. Its distinguishing feature is the M Sport package, which gives the exterior and interior a sportier appearance. Choosing between the two 30e configurations therefore comes down primarily to equipment and styling.
Luggage capacity varies by version
The X3 mild hybrid has a luggage capacity of 570 litres, increasing to a maximum of 1,700 litres with the rear seatbacks folded down. The corresponding figures for the plug-in hybrids are 460 and 1,600 litres.
This difference is worth considering if you regularly carry a pushchair, dog crate or larger items of luggage. Capacity alone does not tell the whole story: the shape of your belongings and the dimensions of the loading opening also matter. Ideally, try fitting the items you usually carry before choosing your vehicle.
Equipment for everyday driving
Mobire lists a parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, heated seats and an electrically operated tailgate for all three X3 configurations. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow you to access compatible smartphone apps through the vehicle’s display.
Both plug-in hybrid offers also list a Harman Kardon sound system, adaptive LED headlights and Driving Assistant Plus. The latter includes adaptive cruise control and steering and lane assistance functions. These systems support the driver, who remains responsible for controlling the vehicle.
The BMW X3 is available with an operating lease or full-service lease, depending on the offer for the selected configuration.
